This is just one of many very unusual Barrier Canyon Style pictographs found in a large alcove and known as the Birdcage Panel. This isn’t the only figure here with a small round head, but it certainly is the most prominent and can be seen from down canyon if you know where to look. I’ll be posting some more photos from this panel in the next few days.
Moab Cutouts
Here’s a portion of another petroglyph panel near Moab that I revisited over the weekend. There’s a few very cool panels located up here above the Colorado River, but unfortunately there is also a lot of vandalism and graffiti up here, too…
Expanded Sheep
I’ve posted a photo of this particular petroglyph in Kane Creek Canyon before since it’s one of my favorites. I was having a little fun and experimenting when I took this shot….I like the way it turned out.
Bear Hunt Panel
Since I didn’t visit any rock art this weekend for a change, I’m going to post a photo of this large bear found near Moab since I did drive by it yesterday on my way home. This is a well known petroglyph panel found near Moab along the Potash Road. The large bear appears to be a newer addition to this panel than the other figures and is actually superimposed over a few of them.
