Perfect Ghost

I know I posted a photo from the Perfect Panel on Monday, but I feel like posting one more this week. This is the largest anthropomorph found at this site which resembles the large figures found at the Great Gallery in Horseshoe Canyon. It’s amazing how well preserved it is!

Thumbs Down

This is one of my favorite photos taken at The Perfect Panel on my trip there this spring. This panel is also known as The Hitchhiker because from a distance it appears that this anthropomorph has an extended thumb. Looking closely you will see that there is actually a small zoomorph just below the lower finger. Very interesting!

The Perfect Panel

A photo of the Perfect Panel is a great way to start off the week. This astonishing pictograph panel is probably one of my very favorites that I have visited so far. Not only is this panel in impeccable condition (hence the name ‘Perfect Panel’), it’s also in a very impressive location that is just a little bit tricky to locate and to visit. This photo shows the full panel in all it’s glory including the well-known ‘hitchhiker’ anthropomorph on the very left.

The Hitchhiker

The Hitchhiker

‘The Hitchhiker’ is a surprisingly well preserved Barrier Canyon Style anthropomorph hidden in a remote canyon of southern Utah. It’s part of a larger pictograph panel known as The Perfect Panel because of it’s amazing state of preservation. It’s obvious where the nickname ‘hitchhiker’ comes from while looking at this figure, but if you look closely at the ‘extended’ thumb you will notice that the finger is shorter than the other fingers. There is actually a small zoomprph figure right below the thumb that makes it look longer if you don’t pay close attention to the details. This anthropomorph also has a highly stylized ‘attending dog’ type figure on it’s shoulder.

The Perfect Panel is probably the most elaborate and best preserved pictograph panel I have had the pleasure of visiting so far. I will definitely be posting more photos from this panel in the future!
